Taliban launch major attack against opposition

Monitoring ReportPESHAWAR: Ruling Taliban in Afghanistan have launched a major offensive against the opposition Northern Alliance forces, north of Kabul.

The Taliban infantry with the help of the Air Force carried out attacks against forces loyal to the rebel commander Ahmed Shah Masood near Bagram air base, BBC reported.

Taliban officials said that their guerillas have destroyed some posts of the enemy but the opponents have rejected the report saying the attack was beaten back.
