Babar questions Leghari's credibility for any role on Afghanistan
Raja Assad Hameed - FP

Islamabad: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Major General (Retd) Naseerullah Khan Babar has expressed his intense amusement as well as astonishment over reports regarding chief of Millat Party Farooq Leghari's maneuvers about installing former King Zahir Shah in Kabul.

Justifying his jocularity, Babar said on Thursday he was amused because of the desperation of Mr Leghari to seek some legitimacy and role for himself and dismayed over the regime's bid to catch even straws in the difficult situation it is faced with.

"Mr. Farooq Leghari had still to clear his name with respect to a number of corruption cases some of which are pending before the Supreme Court.

These pertain to the Mehran bank scandal, construction of a shooting range in the Presidency, the fictitious sale of Razi farms, theft of 80 million rupees in the purchase of helicopters, which were never delivered and bungling of another 120 million rupees in the purchase of equipment for the Intelligence Bureau", Babar added.
