CHARIKAR (Agencies): The Charikar power plant has recently resumed production of electricity that provides energy to customers in the provincial cityof Parwan province, as well as the water pumps that provide water for irrigation. The plant stopped operating in 1996 when the ruling Taliban temporarily seized control of the city.

Later, they blew up the canal bringing water to the plant.

The Norther Alliance publication Payam-e-Mujahid reported that engineers from the Power and Water Department of Perwan Province repaired the power plant, water pumps, and the power distribution system.

This work was done in an area only 15 kilometers away from the fighting front.
