Afghan opposition denies fall of Yakawlang to Taliban ISLAMABAD (NNI): The Afghan Opposition Northern Alliance has denied fall of strategic Yakawlang district in central Afghan province of Bamyan to the ruling Taliban. A spokesman for the anti-Taliban alliance, Mohammad Muhaqeq told the BBC that Taliban carried out a major offensive against Yakawlang but denied they have recaptured it. He said that Taliban launched attack on Yakawlang from Bamyan side. He said that the fighting is still continuing in the area. He said that the fighting now has spread to Yakawlang. He added that Band-e-Ameer is located away from the battlefront. Muhaqeq said that Taliban have sent reinforcement to Yakawlang from different areas of Afghanistan and the fighting would naturally continue. He added that Taliban have made great preparation for this war and their officials who have won war laurels are taking part in the fighting. |
