Shia scholar killed - BBC

Police in the Pakistani city of Karachi say a prominent Shia scholar has been murdered.

Officials say the man, Agha Sheikh Mohammad Sultani, was on his way to a mosque when he was attacked by gunmen on a motorbike.

Mr Sultani was born in Iran but has lived in Pakistan for many years.
Shia leaders say he was responsible for setting up many religious seminaries.

No one has said they were responsible for the murder, but in recent years a number of Shias and Sunnis in Pakistan have been killed in attacks by rival extremist groups.
