Refugees in miserable condition The Nation 2/15/01 PESHAWAR (PPI) Worse conditions have been reported in the four main four Afghan refugees camps i.e, Shamshatoo, Jalozai, Akora, and Nasir Bagh. According to a team of doctors visited these camps, have said that more than 700 dead babies have born in these camps due to the non-availability of shelter, food and medicines. The conditions have become more critical due to the influx of more than one lakh and sixty thousand Afghan refugees in to these camps due to the recent sanctions on Afghanistan. Worse sanitation conditions have also contributed in making the conditions more and more critical and several diseases are spreading in these camps due to the worse sanitation system. Headache, according to the doctors were prevailing very rapidly among the Afghan refugees in these camps and people were suffering from headache for several days. The time has come that the world community should help these helpless and needy Afghan refugees in this critical time. |
