10 Taliban commanders join opposition ISLAMABAD (NNI): Ten Taliban commanders have joined the opposition northern alliance in Ghor province. Quoting the embassy of the deposed Afghan President Rabbani in Tajik capital Dushanbe, Radio Tehran reported that after the defection of the commanders, Taliban launched offensive in the area and their jets carried out air attacks damaging several houses in the area. Also: Afghan opposition discusses tension between Taliban, Uzbekistan ISLAMABAD (NNI): The leaders of the opposition northern alliance held a meeting under the chairmanship of commander Ahmed Shah Masood to discuss latest developments in Afghanistan particularly high tension between Taliban and Uzbekistan. Quoting the embassy of the deposed Afghan President Rabbani in Tajik capital, Dushanbe, the radio reported that the meeting expressed concern over the latest developments which may further complicate the Afghan conflict. |
