Taliban launch fresh offensive in Salang

ISLAMABAD (NNI): Afghanistans Taliban have launched fresh offensive against the opposition northern alliance in northern part of Salang Pass, reports Radio Tehran.

Taliban attacked the opposition commander, Bashir Salangis basses and captured some grounds as well. However, the alliance forces in a retaliatory attack recaptured the lost area and forced Taliban to retreat.

Meanwhile, IRNA has quoted a senior official of Defence Ministry of Taliban in Kabul as saying that Russia has decided to provide chemical weapons to Ahmed Shah Masood and Taliban too have decided to get chemical weapons from Osama bin Laden.

Taliban have started efforts to convince Osama Bin Laden in this regard. It is for the first time after Dr. Najeebullah government that the warring factions have threatened to use chemical weapons against each other, the radio said.
