Tension runs high between Taliban, opposition in Kunar

PESHAWAR (NNI): Tension runs high between the Taliban and opposition commander in eastern Afghan province of Kunar.

The situation became tense when the Taliban tried to disarm the guards of Hezb-e-Islami commander Najmuddin Khan in Nenglan bazar. The Taliban not only disarmed the guards but also snatched their vehicle.

However another commander of Hezb-e-Islami Kaka Jabbar got released his colleagues along with the car and weapons at a time when they were being taken to the provincial capital, Chagha Serai.

Although the local elders had brokered peace between Taliban and opposition commanders in the recent past but the violation of the accord may pave the way for possible confrontation between the two sides.
