Tajikistan, Afghan sign agreement for cooperation in water, power sector

TEHRAN (NNI): Afghanistan and Tajikistan have signed an agreement for cooperation in the field of water and power.

Radio Tajikistan said that the agreement was signed by the head of Water and Power Corporation of Tajikistan, Bahram Sarajev and the Afghan Ambassador in Dushanbe, Ibrahim Hekmat.

Under the agreement both the countries would cooperate in provision of small power houses and training of experts. Sarajev said that under the pact, Tajik experts would operate in areas under the control of the Islamic government of Afghanistan.

The Afghan Ambassador in Dushanbe said that Tajikistan had a good experience in manufacturing small power houses and taking advantage of this experience will be good for Afghanistan.

Both the countries were cooperating each other in the field of electricity until 1995 and electricity was being supplied from Tajikistan to Kunduz province of Afghanistan.
