Wednesday, January 19, 2000 3:20 PM EST

ANKARA (Jan. 19) XINHUA - The Turkish government has decided to provide a total of 110 tons of wheat to the villagers in two northern Afghan provinces plagued by the freezing winter.

The Turkish Embassy in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, will be responsible for delivering the humanitarian aid to the two remote villages, according to a Turkish Foreign ministry announcement on Wednesday.

Turkey had provided Afghanistan with medical assistance last summer to alleviate the sufferings of the war-stricken people who are badly in need of medical help, said the announcement.
