islamic scholars find taliban's restrictions unislamic

islamabad, jan. 19, irna -- two washington based islamic scholars have described the restrictions imposed by taliban militia on the afghans as unislamic. the verdict was given by dr. ahmad moin, associate professor of howard university, washington and yahya hendi imam, professor of george-town university, washington, in an internet dialogue. the dialogue, organized by us public affairs programme for afghanistan, was participated, from peshawar, by syed sarwar hussain, director, cooperation centre for afghanistan and matiullah abid, information secretary, afghanistan commission from human rights and, from islamabad, by dr. zafar ishaque, director general of the islamic reseach institute of international islamic university. the scholars were asked questions regarding taliban's act of forcing the people to grow beard and denying jobs and ecudation to the women folk. "no individual should obey unjust rule. taliban restrictions on rights of individuals are unislamic," dr. moin answered. the scholars said that islam respected individual liberties and called for protection of rights of human beings in a true islamic state. they also said that islam did not impose restrictions on freedom of expression.
