Crime wave dogs Afghan capital

A series of armed robberies and kidnaps have taken place in the Afghan capital, Kabul.
People in the west of the city say an armed gang has begun operating after nightfall, breaking into houses, tying people up and beating them before stealing money and jewellery. They say several people who have resisted have been murdered.

Ukraine launches appeal for missing in Afghanistan

PESHAWAR, Pakistan, Jan 15 (Reuters) - The Ukrainian embassy in Pakistan launched an appeal for help on Saturday to trace 72 Ukrainian soldiers it said had gone missing in neighbouring Afghanistan during the Soviet invasion there in the 1980s.

Govt committed to restoration of democracy, US senators told
ISLAMABAD (NNI): The visiting US senators were told on Friday that the government is committed to restoration of democratic institutions on the basis of devolution of power, an official statement said.
