Afghan provincial capital moves

The Taleban authorities in Afghanistan have decided to change the provincial capital of one of the western provinces bordering Iran.

A Taleban spokesman, Mullah Abdulhai Mutmain, told the BBC that they have decided to move the provincial center of Nimroz Province from the city of Zaranj, to the central town of Ghorghori.

He said the move was made because Zaranj because of political and military reasons.

Zaranj has often been attacked by the Afghan opposition and because it was close to Iran, which has supported the anti-Taleban coalition.
