Corps Commanders Conference discusses geo-strategic environment

RAWALPINDI (NNI): A two-day Corps Commanders’ Conference presided over by Chief Executive General Pervez Musharraf commenced at the General Headquarters here Friday. All Corps Commanders and Principal Staff Officers are attending the conference.

During the conference, the participants reviewed the prevailing geo-strategic environment in the region, situation along the borders, Line of Control and Working Boundary, an official statement said. They also discussed internal and external security, as well as other professional matters.

The Chief Executive apprised the participants about his visit to the OIC summit and recent national and international developments. The participants were given a comprehensive update on the Army monitoring mechanism by the Director General Military Operations.

After the Jumma prayers, Interior Minister, Lieutenant general (Retired) Moin-ud-Haider on special invitation, gave an up-date on prevailing Law and Order situation, proposed police reforms and the De-weaponization programme.

The Corps Commanders Conference is scheduled to continue tomorrow (Saturday) as well.
