taliban: afghan-iranian relations now improving

athens, dec.10, irna --- official spokesman for the taliban movement in afghanistan mohammad tayyab in statements made to international arab daily "al-sharq al-awsat'' published friday said ties between iran and afghanistan were improving. he added that trade relations between iran and afghanistan were open and that perhaps iran would, as a result, open a consulate in herat. replying to a question on the formation of a broad-based government in afghanistan, the taleban spokesman said "the islamic emirate of afghanistan is open to all afghans. the emirate now has a broad-based government which includes all the regions of afghanistan." answering a question on the return of afghan refugees, tayyab said peace and security was prevalent in afghanistan, and he called on all afghan refugees to return home. nk/hr nd ::irna 10/12/99 13:48
