Pakistan criticizes UN on Afghanistan issue The News:Jang (Updated at 1330 PST) UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan strongly criticized the resolution presented in the UN General Assembly on Afghanistan issue and termed it "a wrong message'' to the two main Afghan parties, said sources. Pakistan's Ambassador to the United Nations Inamul Haq said that the resolution's text was "one sided and biased'' which could strengthen belief among the Taliban that they are "discriminated against unfairly''. It would also encourage the United Front to raise its expectations and demands keeping in view that they enjoyed the support of powerful countries. He further said, "We are convinced that only an intra-Afghan consensus can ensure durable peace in Afghanistan. There can be no solution from outside Afghanistan. That is an immutable lesson of Afghan history." |
