Afghan opposition claim further gains in far north

KABUL, Nov 30 (AFP) - Afghanistan's opposition forces said Monday they had extended a push across the far north after a dawn popular revolt left 40 Taliban troops dead and another 200 imprisoned.

KABUL, Nov 30 (AFP) - Afghanistan's anti-landmine campaigners Monday voted to press ahead with efforts to ban the lethal weapons and vowed to closely monitor both sides in the country's bitter civil war.
