Taliban publicly execute murderer

KABUL, July 7 (AFP) - Thousands of residents in the southern Afghan Taliban stronghold of Kandahar watched the public execution of a confessed killer, state-run radio reported Tuesday.

KABUL, July 7 (AFP) - Forces battling the hardline Islamic Taliban regime have stepped up rocket attacks on the militia-held Afghan capital with a fresh round of strikes, residents said Tuesday.
