Kabul hit by heavy rocket attack, factions fight in north

KABUL, July 17 (AFP) - Four heavy rockets fired by anti-Taliban forces slammed into the airport of the militia-held Afghan capital as the rivals battled in the north of the country, residents and officials said Friday.

UNITED NATIONS (AP) -- A group of international aid organizations is drafting a letter to send to Afghanistan's Taliban rulers explaining why they cannot work effectively under the hard-line religious government's growing list of edicts, sources said.
