Afghan Prime Minister dies in Germany (BBC, Jan 25)
A
former Prime Minister of Afghanistan, Mohammad Yusuf, has died in Germany,aged
eighty-one.
Mr
Yusuf served in the Afghan government as a minister for industry and mining,
and education, before being appointed as Prime Minister in l963.
A new
democratic constitution was introduced the following year.
When
the Afghan monarchy was overthrown in l973 Mohammad Yusuf left his post as the
Afghan ambassador to Moscow.
In l979
when Soviet troops entered Afghanistan he sought refuge in Germany where he
remained in exile.
