Taliban reject US criticism of human rights in Afghanistan

 ISLAMABAD: Taliban yesterday described US State Department's human rights report on Afghanistan as bundle of lies and distorted facts.

 

 "The United States has no right either to dictate or interfere in the affairs of other countries" Afghan ambassador Molvi Shahabuddin Dilawar said in his reaction to the State Department report.

 

 "Every country has the right to introduce laws in accordance with their religion, culture and traditions" Dilawar told NNI.

 

 He dismissed State Department's allegations against Taliban urging Washington to respect sovereignty of other countries.

 

 The US report released on yesterday accused Taliban of introducing harsh laws and depriving women of education and jobs. It also criticized the Afghan northern alliance of human rights abuses.--NNI
