Taliban
reject US criticism of human rights in Afghanistan
ISLAMABAD: Taliban yesterday described US
State Department's human rights report on Afghanistan as bundle of lies and
distorted facts.
"The United States has no right either
to dictate or interfere in the affairs of other countries" Afghan
ambassador Molvi Shahabuddin Dilawar said in his reaction to the State
Department report.
"Every country has the right to
introduce laws in accordance with their religion, culture and traditions"
Dilawar told NNI.
He dismissed State Department's allegations
against Taliban urging Washington to respect sovereignty of other countries.
The US report released on yesterday accused Taliban of introducing harsh laws and depriving women of education and jobs. It also criticized the Afghan northern alliance of human rights abuses.--NNI
